TRIGEMINAL Neuralgia is not an illness or term one would hear about every day. It’s a nerve disorder and causes those who suffer from it to experience stabbing or electric shock-like pain in parts of the face.
The pain of trigeminal neuralgia comes from the trigeminal nerve which carries pain, feeling, and other sensations from the brain to the skin of the face. It can affect part or all of the face, and the surface of the eye.
Trigeminal Neuralgia is a nerve disease which happens to roughly 1 person out of 15,000 that too mostly after the age of 50. In this disease, a person feels intense pain in his/her face for a few minutes and sometimes even for hours, a disorder commonly known as the suicide disease.
This illness becomes popular recently due to Salman Khan, a Bollywood superstar reveals that he is going through “the worst pain on the planet.”
Salman has revealed that he’s suffering from Trigeminal Neuralgia, which, according to medical journals, is one of the most painful diseases in the world. It is characterized by an intense pain in a person’s face.
The superstar also revealed that he has had this disease since the last seven years. However, he had been hoping that it will go away with time. But the condition has only worsened so he flies to the US for treatment of this illness.
The disorder can be treated either by strong medication, a radiation technique using gamma knife or by surgery, depending upon the severity.
