Mystique a Unique Character in X-Men

Mystique is a unique character. Her moods and her alliances are as fluid as her sexuality. Once more, she was never a first-class member of Xavier’s school, in reality she never was ‘educated’ by Xavier in any way. When she first appeared on the scene within the late 70’s, she was pretty much only a shape shifting bad guy who was searching for help for her mutant ‘daughter’ Rogue (who later  turned  to a core member of the X-Men). Since that point readers have realized that Mystique is actually over 100 years old, and is the mother of mutant hater Graydon Creed, and the X-Men’s Nightcrawler. Mystique herself has been a member of varied X-teams occasionally, however she virtually all the time betrays them for her own gains. At present she is listed as deceased.

Mystique (as played by Jennifer Lawrence, the 20-year-old Louisville, Ky., native. one lucky and talented actress!) is a sister-like character to Charles Xavier. They grow up together, and she spends most of the movie as a softer and gentler version of the character than we’ve ever seen. Mystique is vulnerable and intensely conscious of her outward look and is contemplating using a remedy being created by Beast. She is not the confident killer of the comic books, however they do point out her lack of getting older being part of her mutation.

On this new X-men movie, they approached Mystique not as a villain, however as a conflicted potential hero, pursuing what she sees as civil rights for the mutant race. With quick-paced espionage, “Mystique” should enchantment to viewers who just like the James Bond elements of “X-Men: First Class.”
