This is installment #1 in the Hope to Monetize Your Site
series, where I provide clear and simple information – how to make more money from your blog or web site in every way imaginable.
There are many people who don’t like amazon associates . Amazon was the very first affiliate program I signed up for 2 years ago. Here’s the hype-free way to really make money with an Amazon.com affiliate site. And it’ll only take a day to make the site. The secret? Low cost, low effort.
Many thought amazon sales had dried up? You mean you heard that, and since YOU weren’t selling anything you thought it was true.
FACT: You don’t make sales when you don’t try to sell.
FACT: You can catch more fish when you use a wider net.
FACT: With enough attempts, the law of averages alone will give you sales.
Here’s How:
- Decide on your niche. You’re going to be doing product reviews and recommendations, so pick a niche that you enjoy and know something about. If you can’t stay passionate about the niche, that will show. Choose a narrow enough niche to be distinctive, e.g., music for a certain kind of mood, books about unique skill, arts & crafts, medicine for hair loss etc.
- Choose your domain name. Make it keyword-rich, not clever. Think how people will find your site in the search engines. Here are some ideas :
Books: Magic-Story.com, Cooks- Simple-Books.com, Books-by-Agatha.com,
Medicine : Hair-Loss-Prevention.com, Weight-loss. - Register your domain name. You can choose a lower-cost provider. I use GoDaddy, who have great domain management tools and are less than $10 a year.
- Set up your web hosting. This is where most people get burned. For this kind of site, you do not need $10 a month web hosting! I use Cheap Web Hosting for Under $5, with unlimited domains, i.e., you can run several sites like this on the same hosting package. By using coupon code : hgc25, wordpress, 404page, gatortrial, spring and you only pay $0.01 for first month hosting with them.
- Install blog software. “Blog, you say?” Yes. It will give your site all the structure you need, plus make it easy to quickly post new content. My pick is WordPress, which is open source (i.e., free), easy to install and use, and yet very powerful. Many hosts have a one-step installation process for it, or you can download it and follow their installation instructions.
- Make it pretty. One of the great things about WordPress is the huge variety of templates available for it — they can completely change the look-and-feel. My favorite source to find hundreds of free and pretty WordPress themes is http://www.bestwpthemes.com/.
- Set up categories. Most blog software allows you to create sub-categories to help organize your entries. This will help visitors narrow in even more specifically on their interests.
- Sign up as an Amazon Associate. It’s simple and free. Just visit Amazon and click on the Join Associates link at the bottom of the page (here’s a direct link for your convenience). Your site should already have at least the basic setup done, even if you don’t have any content there yet, as they’ll review the site manually before approval.
- Use The Easiest Methods for Placing Amazon Links in Your Blog, I’m going to give you 2 ways that I place Amazon links in my web sites that are quick and painless.
- The first is an method that I also use in this blog called Amazon Autoposter is a wordpress plugin that is very simple and yet VERY powerful. It does something that I always wanted to be able to do – it grabs content from Amazon for you and turns it into WordPress blog posts. I chose to generate my Amazon Auto-posts as “drafts” – because as-is they aren’t ready to be published. They are setup nicely though, with a category automatically assigned, auto-generated tags, and saved as drafts .Before any of these posts are published for public view I’m going to edit them . click here to visit Amazon Auto poster Website.
- And speaking of other useful WordPress plugin , I use the Amazonify is a WordPress plugin that allows you to insert Amazon Product and Omakase links within your posts. The easy to insert tags greatly simplify the task of promoting Amazon Associate sales through your blog. Amazonify also supports the addition of Amazon Context links and the Product Preview rollover script. which is simply amazing! I wish that it was this easy to use all my affiliate programs in WordPress.
- Build out your site. Before you promote your site, you want to have some substantial content there. Write several product reviews. Have at least 2-3 in each category you’ve created. You may also want to make a categories for articles, news, and commentary about your topic. The more content your site has, the better. And the great thing is that while you’re writing all this, the search engines are getting notified automatically, assuming you turned on the notifications mentioned in step 6.
- Promote your site. The best free way to do this is to communicate with other bloggers writing about similar topics, and to participate in online communities where your topic is discussed.
Tips:
- You have to learn some basic HTML and basic concepts about running a web site. It’s just not that hard. If you have to rely on purchased software, you won’t be able to get exactly what you want, you won’t know what to do when things go wrong, and you’ll end up spending money you don’t need to. Spend the time to learn it. It will be well worth the investment.
- To pick up some extra pennies, sign up for Google AdSense. It probably won’t generate a lot of revenue, but it’s free to sign up and completely effortless to maintain.

One Response to “Make money with amazon. Many people think it is difficult – but I’ll show you that they’re not!”

Finally, I found the information I was looking for. I have been doing research on this subject, and for three days I keep entering websites that are supposed to have what I’m looking for, only to be disappointed with the lack of what I needed. I wish I would have found your website sooner! I had about 25% of what I was looking for and your site has that, and the rest of what I need to complete my research. Thank you and keep up the good work!
