Recently I have been working and studying some free link building techniques and strategies. The sources of my study are from forums, Google and some trial & error self experience. It’s just a share on personally what I think is easy and a solid way to get links.
Technique 1
A trick from Terry Kyle with concept of gaining link is through forum profile links. How you do is :
- Use roboform which is a addon from Mozilla. Which allows you to autofill your registration process.
- Sign up with the forum and place your link at signatures, homepage and profile messages. (Only sign up with forums that publicly allow you to access forum member profiles and threads).
- Don’t go to post any comments cause you’ll end up being a publicly known spammer, just copy your profile URL and start pinging and social bookmarking the URL.
Remember to check for Do follow forums. To check Do follow or No follow use a plugin called SearchStatus for Mozilla.
How you could search for forums?
- Go to Google
- Type a keyword ,Click on “Show Options” then Click on” Forums” or
- Type “powered by Vbulletin”+keyword
A lot of forum software that you could use instead of “powered by Vbulletin”. Check in : http://www.forum-software.org
Technique 2
Searching for Edu and Gov links to comment
- site:.edu inurl:wp-login.php +blog
- site:.gov inurl:wp-login.php +blog
- site:.edu inurl:”wp-admin” +login
- site:.edu “no comments” +blogroll -”posting closed” -”you must be logged in” -”comments are closed”
Manipulate the above techniques in various ways to your understanding and requirement. Example you could also search for edu forums.

Technique 3
So we all know of Angela and the quality of her links. And we want to know how she really searches for these quality links. I read her article on Go-Articles and checked the PR and guess what, its PR 5. Went and checked her back-links and it was 1900+ in back-link watch. So here is the URL of her article and check her back-links and I am quite sure for most of the linking sites we could try too add our link as well, Check http://www.goarticles.com/cgi-bin/showa.cgi?C=1151743.
Search for her profile on Google with inverted commas (“AngelaE8654″) and you get 15000 results. But its obvious for not all sites you could place your link but for most of them you could.
Technique 4
Submitting to Articles Directories – How this works is that you write an article, at the bottom or in the content, you place a link to your website. Then, you submit the article to an article submission service that will make your content available for free or for a cost. The user of you content must then put the entire article on their site, with your link. And, you have one more permanent one way link to your website for every person who uses your content.
Submitting to Directories – Submitting your website URL to web directories is a very time consuming and boring process, where you give the title and description of the site, in addition to the URL for your site. The directory will then add your site and give you another incoming link. Directory submission is a good technique for getting permanent one way links.
Things to remember
- Always use ping service like ping-o-matic, pingoat , pingler after placing a link.
- Or use auto social bookmarking software after placing your link.
The reason we are doing this is to have your link crawled quickly and also to have a quality link.
