Upgraded all my blogs to WordPress 2.9 last night, only one blog face problem so far, found the following two error :
- Warning: gzuncompress() [function.gzuncompress]: data error in /home/andihope/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1831
- Scheduled posts are missed. That is to say that any posts I’ve written, and published with a date in the future are not made live once the correct time has passed.
I’ve search the advice of many posters on WP forums as well as those found on the web elsewhere. Turns out I’m not alone in getting these two errors. At least I’ve found good solution for my blog:
- For this number 1 problem solution, just download http.php from below link .Upload to your server and replace old http:php files. http://core.trac.wordpress.org/export/11450/trunk/wp-includes/http.php
- There are three options until a fix, and hopefully 2.9.1 is released – either go to the edit page that lists all posts, and click the quick edit option for the missed post (then change the post status to published), OR use the MIA plugin mentioned in that support thread. I’ve not tried the plugin myself, though others have reported success. I’ve used the quick edit option instead (editing the post directly does not allow you to change the status to published, you’ll need to do it from the quick edit option within the edit page for all posts.) OR by modifying the timeout in wp-includes/cron.php. Approximately in the line number 205, I changed:
wp_remote_post ($cron_url, Array (‘ timeout’ => 0.01, ‘ blocking’ => false));
To 20 seconds:
wp_remote_post ($cron_url, Array (‘ timeout’ => 20, ‘ blocking’ => false));
Basically for those using cPanel, you will have to log into your cPanel, find the file manager, access /public_html/wp-includes/cron.php, and than edit the timeout details as suggested.
So, how long before I can expect WordPress to fix this issue? Yes, I am very upset. I live and die by scheduled posts on my blog. If I have any more problem with this blog probably I will downgrade back to 2.8. How can I downgrade my installation?

1. If you have a “self-hosted” site instead of one hosted on WordPress.com, you may be able to use the Exclude Pages Plugin for WordPress to hide your extra Home page link and any links that appear in your sidebar Pages navigation. By upload and activate the plugin then create or edit a page, and just exclude it from the navigation.
2. Edit your themes files, pages are displayed with the following code, which is generally used in the header, footer, or sidebar.
<?php wp_list_pages();?>
This will list all of your pages until you add conditions in between ‘()’. You need to use the exclude condition and find out what number ID each page has. The exclude code looks like
<?php wp_list_pages(‘exclude=18,26′ ); ?>
You can see that you have added ‘exclude=18,26′ to the original
list pages code.
Of course, we need to locate the correct ID numbers for your pages.
Go to Manage > Pages and select the name of the page in which you would like to exclude. In the address bar of your web browser will be a URL that looks like the following.
http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/page.php?action=edit&post=18
The number at the end, 18, is the ID number for the page and is the number you will use in the exclude code. You can do this for each page that you want to exclude as long as you put a comma between the page numbers in the code.

If you have a link on your wordpress blog sidebar to show all posts in the category. But you don’t want the full posts to show: only the post TITLES. How did you do it? Is there an easy way for a novice user to configure category/archive pages to only display the post title of posts?
Most people will look for plugins to solve this problem, I myself have tried almost every wordpress category / archive plugins, but without success, I finally found after some trial error of a simple way to make it happen. Take a look at instruction below :
First of all you need to locate the file inside your theme folder that is managing the category or archives pages. Most WordPress themes have that information inside the archive.php or category.php ( If they do not exist, you can make a copy of your theme single page (single.php) and name it category.php or archive.php).
Once you find the file you will need to find where the Loop starts, usually with the following line:
<?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>
The information contained inside the Loop will govern the structure of the posts inside the mentioned pages (categories, archives, so on).
In order to display only the post titles you will need to substitute that line (in red bracket in piture above) with the following:
<?php if ( in_category(‘wordpress’) ) { ?>
<a href=”<?php the_permalink(); ?>”><?php the_title(); ?></a> <?php }; ?>
And if you want to make title have a smaller font and a bulleted list just add simple html code in following line :
